Obama’s Power Africa Initiative

The project, which aims at identifying the sites suitable for small-scale geothermal development serving the needs of local communities, initially written by Jacques Varet was accepted within the framework of the Power Africa program launched by President Obama.

Financed by USAID, it is managed by DeKUT, and associates University of Addis-Ababa (Ethiopia), the Geological Survey of Tanzania with 2 USA universities.

The project aims at identifying within 3 years, favorable sites along the EAR Valley through an interdisciplinary approach (geology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, geophysics, social sciences).
